BUSH STADIUM Indianapolis, IN
Ripken Design was hired by the Chambers Family Foundation to perform a feasibility study that would explore the options for redevelopment at Bush Stadium in Indianapolis, IN. The former home of the Indianapolis Indians, Bush Stadium was vacated in 1996, converted into racecar track, the 16th street speedway, in 1997 and abandoned again two years later. Ripken Design performed a thorough analysis of the site to determine the architectural feasibility of renovating the stadium, analyzed the market for potential programming opportunities and explored a variety of options that include adding additional baseball fields and sports facilities on-site. As the project moves into the design phase, Ripken Design will serve as lead design consultant and examine ways to preserve as much of the site's existing history as possible, while re-inventing the stadium to fit today's competitive amateur baseball market.
